The chemical compostion of monosodium phosphate heptahydrate is NaH2PO4 * 7H2O. Na = 23, H = 1, P = 31 S = 16 Na + (2 * H) + 31 + (4 * S) + (14 * H) + (7 * S) => 23 + 2 + 31 + 64 + 14 + 112 = 246 grams in total. To find the mass percent of Na, we have just in this equation. Mass of the Na / Total weight => 23 / 246 = 0.0935 = 9.35%.
